This recipe is quick, easy, delicious and inexpensive. Every time I have made this dish, there are hardly any leftovers, especially if I was serving a large crowd. I am thinking that someday this dish might become my signature dish for family function and such.
Before we get in the whole process of cooking and ingredients, let me talk a little bit about Yakisoba noodle. Yakisoba is considered a Japanese dish but the noodle itself is a variation of Chow mein from China. I came across Yakisoba in the grocery store well over 2 years ago, and I have been in love ever since. I know many people like to make stir-fried noodle with ramen noodle but Yakisoba is so much better.
In each package, the noodle comes with a pouch of seasoning powder that makes a meal a breeze to prepare. You can generally find Yakisoba next to the vegetable aisle because it needs to be refrigerated. There are many flavor of sauce to accompany the Yakisoba such as teriyaki, hot and spicy, soy ginger, and more. My favorite is teriyaki, and it is a crowd pleaser.
There is a recipe in the back of each package that you can follow; however, this is how I prepare my Yakisoba. This recipe can make 3-4 serving depends on the size of the serving.
Ingredients
- 2 packages of Teriyaki Yakisoba noodles
- 2 heads of broccoli, chopped, washed
- 1 lb of beef, sliced – (I generally buy sirloin steak and slice it myself)
- Garlic powder
- 1 tbs of vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper
- ¼ cup of water
Directions
*Before you get started, thaw out the noodle according to the direction in the back. I like to soak the noodle in warm water till it’s ready to use.*
- Heat the oil in your frying or wok on high. Add the garlic powder (as much as you would like). Stir the garlic powder around till it turned into dark orange.
- Put in the beef and stir it up. Cook the beef for about 3 minutes.
- Cut open a pouch of the seasoning powder that comes with the noodle, and then add half of the pouch in with the beef. Continue cooking the beef till it’s done (about 4-5 minutes).
- Add the fresh broccoli. Sprinkle the rest of the seasoning powder in the open pouch in. Add the water. Stir everything up and cook the broccoli for 10 minutes. Cover the wok will make the broccoli cook faster.
- Before adding the noodle, make a little circle in the pan – push everything out a little (see the pic). This will help the noodle cook faster and also absorb all the seasoning.
- Add in the noodle. Make sure to separate the noodle first.
- Cut open the second pouch of seasoning powder. Add the whole thing in with the noodle.
- Cook everything for 4 more minutes and your dish will be ready.
It might look like a lot of steps but it’s going a lot faster in reality. It’s a healthy dinner with all the nutrients you and your family need. Don’t afraid to change the ingredients around and make the dish your own. Good luck!
