So for this project, I really want to do a baking tutorial. I have this idea for the whole semester that I want to at least show someone how to bake something. As the video length is limited so I decided to go with something simple instead of trying to show you how to make a cake which is probably take hours step by step. I called it surprised cupcakes because when I baked it for people before, they were all surprised when they get to the bottom of the cupcakes and there is an Oreo there. These are easy to make and fun for any occasions.
To make this video story-telling like, I decided to have the cupcakes talk instead of me. I asked my boyfriend to narrate the story as the cupcakes because I have an accent, and certain things I say don’t make sense on audio.
I have to cut down a lot of details. I keep all of the repeating actions to the minimum so it still makes sense. I recorded all of the audio that my boyfriend says separately. The sentence that he has to say for each clip is not as long as each clip is therefore I put music underneath so it doesn’t feel empty or just dead air.
I did speed up couple clips because I think they were kind of slow to watch. I used four different “still title” for the opening frame. The opening frame is a picture of all the cupcakes and I gave it some motions by doing what has been taught in the tutorial. I also put in some video transitions between couple clips that don’t link well together.
For this final draft, I took all of the suggestions from my peers to make my video better. I inserted a lot more transitions between clips so it’s not just one clip to another so suddenly. There is spot that I can’t put in transition because the length of the clip is too short. I also lowered the volume of the music so that it doesn’t become a distraction. I faded the music out at the end also. I decided to add a rolling ending credit so that my video look more polished.
Overall, I like how my video turned out. It’s better than I thought it would be. I know that it might not be perfect for a story-telling video but I make the best use of my idea and creativity so I hope you like it. I also hope that someone will find this video helpful and decided to bake these cupcakes themselves.
