I hope you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. I spent time with my boyfriend’s family, and we had a really nice time. And of course there is a lot of good food too. I am still hungry now thinking about all that food. Thanksgiving food is always too good not to have, right?
As a part of my routine, I brought dessert to Thanksgiving dinner. I decided to make a chocolate cream pie to fit the occasion. Plus, everyone always loves a little chocolate after dinner. I researched to find the perfect recipe for the pie for weeks in advance. I found Emeril’s chocolate cream pie recipe on Food Network website and decided to make that.
I linked the recipe above since it’s a very long recipe but here are a few tips for you. The recipe also includes a recipe for a homemade chocolate crust for the pie. The amount of crumbs for the crust is a lot to fit in a 9 inch pie pan. I ended up putting the crust in a rectangle pan instead or else I would have no room for the filling. There are a lot of crumbs but the amount of butter is not enough to hold everything together. If you want to keep the same amount of crumbs, add an extra stick of butter. The other option is to cut the amount of crumbs in half but keep the same amount of butter.
The filling for the pie is really good though. It’s light and not too sweet. If you don’t want to do the crust, just get the already made chocolate pie crust but you should definitely make the filling in the recipe. Just to make everything go smoother, I would recommend making the whipped cream before making the filling. Overall, this pie turned out pretty well. Everyone likes it a lot more than I thought.
