As you guys know, I love shopping so I can’t pass up the chance for a good deal on Black Friday. However, I don’t believe in getting up at 5 a.m in the morning standing in line just for a good deal. I normally went to the store later on Friday so I can avoid the crowd. This year, I got some fantastic kitchen items for myself and also as gifts for other people.
I first went to World Market. I love this place because they have really beautiful items at a reasonable price. I got a set of stacking mugs with the name of different country on it. I got it as a $20 gift for a White Elephant Christmas party we do with the family on Christmas Eve. This set of mugs is great if you’re running out of storage but need more cups in your house. I also got two sets of melamine chopsticks in blue and green. They are dishwasher safe which will make them last a lot longer than my last ones.
Then I went to Pier 1 Imports as I had never been there before. Their selection of items is great but I feel that they are a little overpriced. However I still picked up a few items, and they are all under $10. I got 2 sets of tea light candles. Their scents are great, and each one burns for around 3 hours. The scent first rain smells really light and fresh while aspen flower is a little heavier and more floral. I burned both of them at the same time, and I have to say they go great together. I also got an ice cream cone shaped dish that you can use for dessert. It’s cute, functional, and it only costs $7.00 so I just had to get one.

I might just go back to the stores to pick up some more of these items. The candle scents are great, and the ice cream dish is just too cute. 🙂
I was in the market for an ovenproof-pan because I didn’t have any. I want to get one so I can do some of the stove-to-oven recipes. I wanted a cast-iron skillet but I couldn’t find any at a good price so I decided to look for other pan that can withstand the oven heat. I finally found that pan in JC Penney. This 10 inch pan is ovenproof up to 4250F, and it’s also non- stick. The pan is in the JC Penney Everyday Collection which was on sale for $20 opposed to its original price of $50. I was so happy when I found it, and I am so excited to use it soon.
I hope some of these items can help you with some gift ideas for your favorite host/hostess or just for yourself this Christmas. So what did you find on your Black Friday adventure?
