Everybody loves to snack between meals sometimes, right? And of course, everyone has their favorite snack that they keep a stack of somewhere in their house. Since I was little, snacking between meals is not a good thing in my family. My mom always says I have to watch how much I snack or else I will gain weight very fast. I haven’t been following that advice since I found these little treats in the store. However, they are kind of healthy so I think I will be okay.
Roasted seaweed is my number 1 snack right now. I have been eating this for the last couple months every time I am hungry but don’t have time for anything else. It comes in the little snack size bag, and so easy to carry around. You are probably thinking “eww”, but don’t boo it before you try a bite, trust me. Seaweed contains a lot of vitamin therefore it’s incredibly good for your health. I am not the only one who is addicted to this type of snack. I came across The Positive Pear page the other day and found this article where the benefits of seaweed are explained in details. I consider this little snack my vegetable chips because it has the salty taste of chips in it.
I also have been obsessed with Kikkoman’s instant seaweed soup and miso soup. They take less than 5 minutes to make, and they are wonderful snacks for a hungry stomach. You might argue that soup can’t be a snack but for me it is. These instant soups are so light that it doesn’t make sense to call them a meal. I sometimes use them as my appetizer before a stir-fry dinner. You only need hot water to make the soup come to life. They helped me a lot when my stomach gets upset from spicy food which is not an easy thing to do. They are convenient and delicious, how could I not love them?
You can find these healthy snacks in the Asian food aisle in the grocery stores or Asian market around your area. If you do decide to try either of these snacks, tell me what you think.
