I took me a while to come up with the idea of what I want to do for this project. My topic is about baking but just me talking about banking is probably really boring. At first, I thought I would just have one character (any kind of baked goods) described how it was made but then I came up with the idea of doing a love story with two characters (2 different types of baked goods). I started naming them as BreadMan and CocoCake. I thought that it would be an interesting story since most people don’t think foods have conscience.
I am not a super good writer but I decided to write the script after persuading my boyfriend to narrate the story for me. The reason for that is because I am an international student; it would make it harder for the audience to understand me with an accent on a recording. Moreover, my boyfriend can do different voices which I think was perfect for the BreadMan character.
I broke my story down into 4 different paragraphs. Then I recorded the paragraph one by one. I did that because it would decrease the chance of me cutting the audio when it’s not at “zero”. I did some editing on the audio but not much because I make sure the recordings were good before I put them in audition. I went on Soundcloud and found all the common license music that I need for my story. I put all the music in “track 1”, and all the story recording in “track 2”. I spaced out the recording to make sure there are pause between the paragraphs to present the time had passed by in the story.
For the final version of this audio story, I did some editing as suggested by my peers. I recorded the first paragraph again because my boyfriend’s words were jumbled together the first time. I also lower the volume of the second song so that it’s not distracting the audience from the story. I overlapped the second and third song together so that it doesn’t just jump from one song to the next.
Since my topic is about baking, I decided to include some of the ingredients, and basic steps to make each baked goods in the story. It’s not enough knowledge for anyone to make a cake, or bread from that, but by putting that information in, I feel like I have taught the audience something even just something small.
This story is not only the presentation of my love for baking, but also tells something about myself: “I am a hopeless romantic.” I hope you enjoy the story. I tried to make it a little bit funny and light so it fits more audience.
